Turkey's first EXPO “EXPO 2016 Antalya” opened its doors with a spectacular opening ceremony, under the theme “Flowers and children”, attended by the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and by the Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu and the Sectorial Promotion Groups opened a stand in Turkish Exporters Assembly Pavilion.
During the next 6 months, 5 million foreign and 3 million domestic tourists are expected to visit “Expo 2016 Antalya", where 11 Promotion Groups carried out their promotional activities in the Tent of Turkish Exporters Assembly. Among others, Olive and Olive Oil Promotion Group (ZZTK), Dried Fruit Promotion Group (KMTG) and Sea Food Promotion Group (RWB), whose activities are coordinated by the Aegean Exporters’ Associations were also there.
Olive and Olive Oil Promotion Group Chairman M. Kadri Gündeş stated that the Promotion Groups would promote and make taste Turkish Products during the 6 months of “Expo 2016 Antalya” and added that this fair, with participants from 51 countries, was a great opportunity for the promotion of Turkish export products.
Mr. Gündeş explained that EXPO Fair Antalya project was approved in 2011 and implemented in a period of 3 years, thanks to a 1.7 billion Turkish lira worth Turkey’s investment and said: “Thanks to this investment together with a right promotion strategy, we will be able to better promote Turkey, Antalya and our export products. We expect that similar events be further organized in order to reach the export objectives Turkey has determined for 2023.”
The Deputy Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy Minister Tarık Sönmez was among the visitors of the sectorial Promotion Groups stands taking place in pavilion of Turkish Exporters Assembly.
Besides, the Minister of Economy Mustafa Elitaş, the Chairman of Turkish Exporters Assembly Mehmet Büyükekşi and members of Turkish Exporters Assembly Management Board, which will participate to the “Consultation Meeting of TEA delegates”, to be held between 29 April and 1 May 2016 in Antalya, should also visit the TEA pavilion, where Sectorial Promotion Groups take place.
